New Blog

I have decided to start a new blog that will purely be for politics and news. This blog (liberal reality) is wonderful and a great place to share stories and my take on the news but I feel that it is time that I also have a blog to express politics in a manner that is fair and gives me a good shot of getting on the Blog Watch for CNN.

politicalyouth.blogspot.com

check it out.

This blog will still be used have no fear, my rants and stories wont be leaving anytime soon.

CAFTA Stikes White Gold!

Yes the day has finally come. CAFTA (Central American Free-Trade Agreement) passed in the House and will become law upon signage by GWB. What does this mean, however, for Florida? It means two BIG things for the moment.

First the Sugar industry is going to be angry because of the ridiculous quotas that will be needed for imported sugar regardless of demand. This once powerful industry is now powerless to the envirmontal standards (or lack thereof) within the 5 central american states that now are a member of CAFTA. We will see the same problem for the sugar industry that we saw with the Automobile insdustry after the passage of NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) in 1992. It will be an interesting move for the US Government to determine how much it will want to help US Sugar.

Second, the Governor's race in Florida will now heat up quite a bit after the passage of CAFTA. Jim Davis (D-FL) in an interesting decision voted Nay on CAFTA ending a long career of pro-free trade votes including Asia and other central american nations. The voter reaction (especially on the moderate/business democrats) will certainly be worth noting as this crucial vote has finally come to a close and opened a new chapter in the race in '06.

Also, please visit politicalyouth.blogspot.com . It is the new home of my political ideas and information to bleed off some of the political stuff from this my personal blog. Please visit it and tell your friends to grow the political youth community.

School Sucks

Here is my life for next year, the IB life at least...

11 Spanish (Young)
12 Orchestra
13 English (Twila)
14 Math (Stone)
21 History (Mills)
22 JA (Patel, Spurgin)
23 ITGS (Kay)
24 Physics ('ole Rusty)

On a much better note...politics is heating up here in FL and across these United States. Im excited to see whats going to happen with the Bolton nomination and with the hearings for JR. Not to mention some interesting news about a certain cyclist who happened to support Senator Kerry in 2004 who is now interested in going into politics.

If Lance decides to run for anything im sending my resume in as fast as the FAX machine can spit it out.

Life is good, the nation is moving ahead, and popular support for our president is continuing to fall steadily. The USA just might be starting to understand the mistakes it has made and become prepared to move ahead.

Oh well we shall see in about 16 months.

JR on the court

Well Hello All,

Stanford is coming to a close and my time for summer is ever-dwindling. Tonight was fountain hopping, under the radar, and we enjoyed a fine late night of running around campus avoiding the police and such. Graduation is coming up and now im sitting here listening to Daniel and Jake piss and moan about class today.

As for Politics...

JR is on the Court. Such a typical choice for the Court for a republican president. Reagan had it right with O'Conner and yet God forbid that GWB appoint a woman that people might actually like. The one saving grace, points to the GOP for this one, was appointing what could be the WASP version of O'Conner. He is Pro-Choice, to a certain extent, and he will face a grand time with Patrick and Arlen.

JSA Summer School has been awesome and the lessons/memories i'm taking from this will be worth the expense and worth the sacrifice.

I Can't Believe Its Over...

Too Funny to Wait

I dont have a story up yet this week, sorry to all those who are waiting...Im getting to work on it soon.

But to entertain you until then I give you a Liberal rendition of God Bless the USA as written by Mr. Speaker of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom Daniel Kroop.

“God Bless The G.O.P”
A Parody by Daniel Kroop

If tomorrow all the laws were gone, I’d lobbied in my life
And I had to start again, with just my musket and steak knife
I’d thank Ronald and George to be living here today,
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom, and Dems can’t take that away.

And I’m proud to be a Republican, not a Frenchie with his brie
And I won’t forget the Gingrich House, who delivered liberty.
And I’ll get a tax cut, bright and new due to laissez policy
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land… God bless the G.O.P.

From the deserts of Nevada, to the hills of West VA
Across the skies of I-Ho, red state to landlocked state

From Memphis down to Cheyenne… Let’s forget the costal bays!
Well, there’s pride in every Republican heart,
And it’s time to stand and say:

That I’m proud to be a Republican, not a Frenchie with his brie
And I won’t forget the Gingrich House, who delivered liberty.
And I’ll get a tax cut, bright and new due to laissez policy
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land… God bless the G.O.P.

...that brings a smile to my face.

Enjoy

The Lord of the Court

Every once in a while someone comes along that is great. So great that they hold in their hand the very power to upset the balance of men, women, and even the unborn children. This is the story of one such person, from a very humble land, who rose to greatness and would one day become a member of the Elite, so Elite that the power was to be divided among the Nine and they would in turn have the sole responsibility to shift the balance of power.

Our tale begins in a mythical land far from the cries of the ones who wear suits and drink lattes. This is a land filled with beautiful sand and much sunshine. Here we find our Hero embattled with her compatriots in a battle of wits and words. She stands tall as their leader and demands compisure and decorum...

"President O'Connel you cant expect us to work together here with the blazing sun outside!" -exclaimed a member of the discussion group facing a vote on a very controversial subject. "You WILL vote exclaimed the fearless leader of the body" and with that president O'Connel became famous throughout our fabled land far beyond the humble Mire that she from whence she came.

As the fair president was travelling home one 'eve a man in leather boots, a bowl hat, and a growing smile approached her with a confident stride that only a persona dramatis could have attained. Our Hero was startled but unshaken as the strange man in Boots addressed her, "I am Gipper the Great, harbinger of fortune and oppurunity throughout my land for those who seek it." the man in Boots seemed very sure of himself and the fair Hero declared "Oh my, you are the famed Gipper the Great of the Middle Road! Your life has brought tales of many frigid battles with the Curtain Empire. The threaten to drop drapes of despair across our great land and you are the protector of us all. To what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?"

The man in boots began to tell his tale, "Long ago our land desired equality in its decisions. Our people cried out for a group, a branch if you will, to confer over all issues both moral and criminal. WIth this new burden upon us we commisisoned a band of lofty barristers to create the Nine. A brave band of judicial warriors that would tackle the issues and render peace and stability to our precious land.

"You speak much sense and truth mr...the great, I find your story both inspiring and interesting but what does it all have to do with me!?" - demanded the humble President. "I am but a mere servant of my peopel and have nothing to offer a man such as yourself with my meager talents. I am from this land and you are the leader of the Mire, what can I do for you? I am not destined to serve the Nine nor am I ready to leave my home. I protect these great and simple people and will continue to do so. You have travelled far but I am afraid there is nothing I can bring you."

Gipper the Great was astounded! Such a humble servant in such a far place, he indeed had chosen wisely. "You are to come with me to a new land for you. The place called Courtdor, it is a vile place filled with the men who wear neckties and carry around berries that are black. It is there that your Destiny awaits you. I have not come to fetch a clerk or a hand-maiden. Rather, you will serve as the Ninth!"

"The Ninth! But sir that cannot be! I am not ready to be one of the Nine who reigns this land."
" Oh but you are and y ou shall reign with a fair hand and a steady voice. It is in Courtdor that you are most needed. Your people will understand this great calling. Now, the time for debate is over. You will prepare your things and come away with me at once. We depart for the center of the Middle Ground, the heart of the Mire!"

And with this call came the beginning of a new Era for the Middle Ground, for you see this was no ordinary calling to be one of the Nine. The Nine serve to control and combat the autocracy of the many forces to desecrate the very foundings of the Mire. They were no simple branch of the great Council of the Mire they indeed were the Chosen Branch.

One Branch to Rule Them All.

What followed was the ushering of a new era, called by many the time of The Moderate. the new member of the Nine, called the O'Connel of Justice, our humble Hero became known throughout the Mire as a calm-head and great orator of the time. For many generations she ruled over the Courts and the Land with a fair eye and steady hand on the pen of Justice.

And then the Dark Times began.

A new generation had passed with new leaders and a turbulent mood in the air as many men began to follow the blind-eye of the crafty leader of the Mire. Many in the land were worried about if the other members of the Nine would survive and allow for freedom to prevail as it had in the past. But one of the Nine decided that Destiny should wait.

Our Hero turned to a new path of family and friends as an alternative to her Courtly calling. The Mire was shocked with news of her decision to depart the fair land of neckties and frilly lace on the Nine in their dresses of black and white.

Our Hero has moved on to bigger and greater dreams while leaving those in the Mire trapped under the dark rule of the one from a land of bigger things, chairs with a plug, and a stick of fire under every bed.

Dark times are ahead for our fair land, who will replace the last of the Nine?

Who will rule the branch destined to rule over all?

One Branch to Rule them All, Nine were chosen and now one remains.

Dark Times, Dark Times indeed.
