We shall, we shall, overcome

Well school is finally out. But honestly, I have been finished (so far as brain power is concerned) with school since the Seniors left. So nothing really exciting on that front.

The Senate got together and actually cut a deal on the judges.

Who did this?

Who could have been so bold as to challenge the Party?

The Mod Squad of course!

yes 14 members of the United States Senate actually did what the other 86 are supposed to do, but dont. That is talk to one another and work out something that will actually get the process moving. It of course means that Justice Owen is going to be on the Bench but there are some battles that we just have to give up.

Has the Senate remembered their moment of solidarity with other issues sch as Social Security? No.

Another week in American Politics.

I do have praise for the House though...they were able to pass the stem cell bill that will lift limits on research and allow for some real issues to finally be faced and maybe conquered through these cells. The president threatened the House with a veto if they passed it and they DID IT ANYWAY! This nation is finally starting to crack the facade the president has created around his office and now the House and to a certain extent the Senate are beginning to remember that they are a whole other branch and can do what they want regardless of the Presidents wishes. November of 2006 is getting pretty close for some Senators and they need to be ready with their vote card in hand.

in other news...

Last night was the pinnacle of Star Wars Day: A group of us decided to watch Episodes 4,5, and 6 all day and finally conclude the evening with GL's best work: Revenge of the Sith.

For those of you counting that is #3 for me...

It was a great time and a unique approach to a summer kickoff.

JSA Picnic today!

JSA Picnic today!

I gotta go buy lighter fluid now...later.
