School?
This week will prove to be rather exciting in the realm of deadlines and somewhat important for school. That non-withstanding I will continue to comment on the workings of governent with some monday morning anecedotes on the happenings of our dear president.
This Week: George is in Russia hanging out with our old man Vlad. Turns out that Vlad's pretty upset about some things we said and doesnt think that we should be spreading our democracy around the world and that we should not get ourselves involved in the russian democracy. George also took part in watching a parade in Red Square, something that Ronald certainly figured would never happen with an American President and the Soviet, whoops we still call 'em Russian, Premier...dang...President.
George, however, was not without some pleasent company. He brought both of his wives with him: Laura AND Condi, something that Im sure caused more than a little tension onboard the Desperate Housewives-esqe scenario on Air Force One. Laura Bush...theres a woman that has NO IDEA whats happening in the world around her and rely's on a political joke writer to come up with her material. I want to be there when some staffer finally tells Laura what the Chippendales really is or actually provides a real copy of the hit ABC show "Desperate Housewives."
In Britain we experienced yet again the magic that is the political process in a nation that doesnt rely on two parties to bicker. In Britain all four major parties (in order of leftist to right philosophy) Liberal Democrats, Labour, Conservatives, and the Tories, all put up a good campaign. Tony Blair won a third term but it could prove diffifcult to retain since he is not a president he is the Prime Minister and unlike our president Blair will have to face Parliament every session and acnser for his actions in an expedited fashion. Tony thankfully has some poise and an ability to appear pleasent to the camera and woo his political foes inside and outside of Labour.
Just a quick note on the Tories...any political party that has been around longer than the United States or can claim that they were in force during famous portions of history deserve to keep just a few seats if nothing wlse than for the humor (or is it humour?) of having them around. They didnt pick up a lot of seats, as they did in the 1980's under Margaret) but there is the start of a semi-conservative movement in the UK to reform, conserve, and protect the home Island.
Two quotes to help you through the day...courtesy of Peter Gibbons:
1. "Everyday is worse than the day before it" "So, Peter, does that mean today is the worst day of your life?" "Yes" "Whoa, thats messed up."
2. "Today I didnt do anything. I did absolutely nothing and it was everything I could have hoped for."
