Just a General Statement on the Media

The Federal Election Committee (FEC) is attempting to determine how they will be able to govern rules regarding bloggers and the internet for political campaigns for federal positions. The problem is they do not know if such laws are applicaable given the free nature of the internet and its vast international capabilities.

My opinion, stay out of the internet. The FEC already tried to get involved with PAC's and other contribution scams to try and curb fundraising problems and yet look at the 2002 and 2004 elections.

Bloggers have the ability to provide real-time opinions and introspect into the world as we see it, wheter or not we are biased does not mean that we want to have malice or manipulate a group of voters.

The focus, rather, should be forced on the manipulation of Journailsts. The few individuals who are allowed what was once the respected title of Journalist has become nothing more than a simple title given to any Tom, Dick, and Harry that wants to parade around like a real member of the press. I am by no means a journalist nor do I tout myself as one. But people like Jeff Gannon who are allowed the title of Press have a duty to uphold such a title with dignity and honor, not to trampel on the once hallowed idea of a free press. Yellow Journalism has returned with a vengence and it scares me (FOX). Frankly I long for the days of newspaper and radio rather than the colorful medium of TV and even, yes, the internet. At least then Journalism was something to be applauded and respected for its integrity.

Holy Saturday and all is quiet on the western front, yeah right.

Happy Easter to all
