My Approaching Weekend
this weekend= lots of work. A whole lot of time on my back with my team of historical restorationists cleaning, scrubbing, and chemically altering a WWI Newton trench mortar.
More tension in Iraq as election day grows nearer still and many are worried.
I on the other hand am just going to await the election and hope for the best, even if it isnt true democracy. people think that the Irawi population is voting for a president, they are not. They are electing a national assembly which will in turn elect a national council, similar to the house and senate respectivly, and the council will choose a president who will run the american satellite of Iraq.
yay for a pseudo-democracy.
peace. (isnt that ironic?)

Well isnt this great
36
thats todays number.
36 american soldiers died today in Iraq. That about says it all.
Another 36 lives wasted in the name of "freedom" and "liberty" empty words from an empty president. I can no longer stand to watch his empty rhetoric on television and listen to his poorly written and even more poorly delivered speeches.
I have nothing left to day, too much death for such a little purpose.
Elections are looming, good luck Iraq im gunnin for you.

In Class
So its another day in the Liberal Reality.
The Senate testimony has been wonderful, watching all of those wonderful people, especially Barbara Boxer, get up and finally drag some truth out of Condi is great. Elections are coming up soon Iraq and the Catholic Archbishop of Mosul is calling for a delay because he thinks there should be peace and order before elections can be cast, well too bad for him. If you are an Expatriate in this country from Iraq have no fear, you too can vote in the election at any of the 5 election locations in the US. In a nation where its capitol doesn't even have a voting member of congress we are encouraging national assemblies. We cant get our system right and yet we continue to shove democracy down the throats of the Iraqi people. Ridiculous.
Well the big day is coming soon (the DNC elections that is) and I am hopeful for Dean. We have to be.
Enjoy another day in the greatest country on earth, well, the nation formally known as the greatest ******* country on Earth thanks to the lead singer of FUEL.

Lots going on
Back from a long weekend of camping and such, the government is still here so I guess all is OK.
Howard Dean wants to be the next DNC chairman, if was on the DNC I would vote for him, we need him to lead the party. But knowing my party they may just screw it up all over again. Great.
Well im off, so long and stay liberal.

Black Thursday
So today was the swearing in. Great. That pretty much dominated the day's news as I followed it. President Bush, yes thats what im going to call him now since he actually earned it this time, said the word Freedom 27 times, Liberty 15 times, and a few tyrants and tyranny. All in all a speech that was devoid of issues and full of possible probelms in global policy. Great.
So that was it, that was the day in the USA. protestors galore though, that was cool. i was able to catch a shot of a protestor shooting off a snowball at Dick Cheneys limo and hitting it, sweet.
Im off, much to do and much to see.

Just Arrived
Well my weekend was freakin' amazing. Lots of time to reflect, worship, and just remind myself of who I am and what I am meant to do.
In the news:
I dont know, i have been away from the internet, TV, and print media since last friday so there isnt much to say today.
Today is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. I am in awe of the amazing ministry and battles that Dr. King fought to protect the civil liberties of everyone, fair and equal. Dr. King is a tribute to this nation and to this world. Honor him in your own way but just take a moment to stop and think about what life would be like without the libertiy we have and enjoy today. I try to honor him with my service and work to protect those civil liberties and his righteous attitude.
Good-day everyone, more news as I get to read it and sift through it all.

no WMD's? no WAY!
Well...
its official, there are no weapnons of mass destruction in the nation, well at this point, former nation, of Iraq.
no way. you gotta be kidding me. You mean all of those nasty "liberals" and those EVIL "intelligence sources" and *gasp* the FRENCH and the GERMANS who all claimed that more investigaton was needed into WMD's before war were right? well. I for one am shocked.
In other news, 14 hotel chains in the Washington DC metro area have declared that their workers are calling for a strike January 19 to protest the Bush administration's continued double standards concerning workers rights. This means that all of the VIP's in town for the $40 million + event will be left without maids or cooks or bellmen or any other service job needed in the hotel industry. I for one congratulate these workers for not only standing up for what they believe and fighting the system that has for so long betrayed and exploited them but also for being clever enough to choose a date that will draw plenty of media and attention from the ever-so-blind public, well 51% of the public at least.
So kudos to the working-class and another slap in the face to an administration that sdeserved the boot, oh well, its another day in the liberl reality.

It gets better and better
Well the day was fairly crappy until this interesting tidbit came in today...
The nominee for homeland security chief, the New Yor Times has reported, lied under oath when questioned about his actions during the interrogation and arraignment of John Walker Lindh, also known as the American Talian, Johhny Jihad, and many others. Regardless, he was an american citizen and his rights were denied hiim when he was interrogated without his attorney present even though Lindh already had an attorney and it was on official court record that there was an attorney involved. This is yet another example of George W placing republican pawns into positions that should first of all be non-partisan and secondly condusive of the nominee's qualifications. It is a asad day in america when the only cabinet positions that has thus far knocked out two very public candidates is the position most prizedmy Bush, that of the security of our homeland. tsk tsk.
Well America, at least 51% of you, thanks for putting this nation to the test under a president that makes Warren G Harding look almost competent in the way he conducts business. I thought the Teapot Dome dilema was bad but boy was I way off.
That is all, keep fighting you 49%, we can do it. I have faith.

Another Day
First and foremost Mr. Bush said something today that will tickle the fancy of anyone who has any sanity left:
"I absolutely believe we did the right thing by going into Iraq despite there not being any WMD's."
holy Crap
just because, holy freakin crap
you must be kidding me. Lets have a short history lesson:
What year was the following stated by a certain, unelected, president? "Iraq has reconstituted its nuclear program, we must do what is *COUGH* right for America." Give up? may 2003! well. how quickly they forget.
First it was WMD's, oops
Next it was the "people", well you can read, look at the news and the elections that make ohio look like a PTA ballot.
Of course there's always O.I.L., i mean Operation Iraqi Liberation, whoops now that was a slip.
This is yet another method of subverting attention away from the obvious. President bush has failed this nation time and time again, the most glaring problem being that of the Iraqi nation. The others include the following:
homeland security, a lawyer for HS Secretary? please
EPA,former oil execs, yeah thats a solution
Social Security, Enron anyone? investing? now? and they called us liberals naive
Supreme Court, pack 'em in if they tow the line, nevermind their ability to be fair and frank in the courtroom
and, last but not least, the department of Justice, hah! gonzalez as AG? I almost fell out of my chair. thats ridiculous, the senate has exposed a number of problems with his counseling and his approval of torture methods at abu gharib. Yet...we trust him with our lives and, more importantly, our liberty?
I need a break, too much "compassionate conservatism" running around in my near-exploding brain.
later.

In Class
As I sit in homeroom attempting to wake-up from another long session in history I figure that now would be a good time to go over the morning news...
One of my favorites that of course isnt being hit on by the news is the court martial of pfc. Graner, one of the army soldiers responsible for the abuses at Abu Gharib. His lawyer compared the act of stacking inmates in a pyramid to a cheerleading position of the same shape. Yea. Thats it. Stacking a group of naked inmates who may not have done anything against their will into a bug pyramid of naked bodies is just like that high school football game. Insert reality check here.
Also in the news is the growing CBS scandal. It appears that CBS is on its way to toally revamping its news gathering organization and the feelings on K street and around the 'net is that Dan Rather will be totally cut loose and the perception altered to reflet the more centrist policies of the other news organizations. Oh well, its another sad attempt to suck up to the White House in a media scene that reflects the growing reliance on politicans as much as a free and independent media.
Thats it for now, probably more later if theres big news.

Ready to Roll
Alrighty I have rested and now Im back to bring moreinsight into the Liberal Reality.
First in the news is newsmaking: CBS was underfire yet again for the Killian documents. There was a series of issues involved and in the end there were people fired and people embarrased in public.
The Tsunami has still dominated the news and rightly so.
But there is something that catches my eye...
Armstrong Williams, a conservative commentator on radio, admitted to accepting money from the US Government to promote the No Child Left Behind Act on his radio show. He never once spoke of the contributions and was finally exposed for it. Even Bill O'Reilly came out and yelled at Williams for what he did. No media bias, eh? Well...you can figure that one out on your own or you can ask Secretary Paige (Education).
In addition, Palestine has elected a new leader and there is a big push by the European Union (EU) to grant Palestine full statehood as in seperate nation.
Life is still truckin, more news as the days roll on.
its the liberal reality, bring a jacket.

Well...
Today there isnt going to be a political post.
Im attempting to determine how I am going to go about resolving a rather grave error. For one of the first times I have to really stop and consider how incredibly stupid I was. I dont even know what to say or how to go about fixing this, if i can. The only thing i can do is attempt to resolve it as peacefully as possible and more importantly as kindly and openly as possible.
So there it is, but have no worries, come monday the Liberal Reality will be back and ready to roll on the fate of the union.
good-eve

Schools in session
So here I am, ITGS, lots going on, lots to post on.
Short brief for now:
Hot in the news is the election contreversy. Congress meets today for the counting of the Electoral votes. I have been following the 109th congress with a careful eye to see how far things will go. First, however, we must focus on the electorate.
Ohio.
The congressional Black Caucus has met and decided that 12 US representitives will be formally contesting the election in the House at 1:00 PM today. There is only one snag: A US Senator. The House member needs at least one senator to suspend the vote, meet about the election, and discuss the problems.
One rep and one senator? Wheres the Parliamentary procedure?
well...
in the 1860's, in the wake of a series of problems in elections, Hayes-Tilden anyone?, there was a decision made to allow just one rep and one senator to formally contest an election.
This is US law and it has not been used since 1877.
The time is now, I can only hope that our representatives and our senators will step up.
At the top of the list of senator's who may sign a grievance is Barbera Boxer of the governator's own California.
Where is John Kerry? He's in the middle east, doing some grand ole' touring. Well...that is somewhat angering, seeing as he is at the center of the problem.
Oh well, thats politics.
**Edit** boxer did it! The House and Senate debated the election. Great fun.

Hello America, good-bye civil liberties
ok
so
this is america: home of the free, land of the brave. Republicans love to remind us of that.
well.
free no longer my friends. If you are SUSPECTED of being involved with a terrorist group, and you arent a citizen of the US, you are what we in the US like to call screwed.
This is the article I found:
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=1802&u=/washpost/20050102/ts_washpost/a41475_2005jan1&printer=1
Thats just spiffy. Now, instead of bothering with those silly courts or even with those so-called-lawmakers the Bush administration wants to just build them a new home and let them live there, hey its in their home country, why not?
I mean, we put japanese-americans in camps during WWII so we could protect them.
And the germans out jews into prisons to protect the Reich.
So why cant we put suspects in jail for the rest of their lives? They arent american anyway, what were they going to do?
to the 51% of americans that voted for George W the II i say congratulations, this is the fruit of your labor.
Total number of people who have told me they regret their vote for GWB: 10
Total number of people ashamed they voted for JK: 0
knowing you were right, they were wrong and now realize, two months late, that they were wrong: speechless
For some things there are votes, for everything else theirs Rovian politics.
Sigh. Senate hearings start soon for al of those lovely cabinet changes. That is one thing i look forward to, im needing a good senate fight to warm the democratic blood a little bit.
thanks america for all you do, thanks GWB for reminding me once again of why I cant stand you and why I will always vote liberal and most importantlyu, think liberal.
this is a liberal reality, join the Revolution that is more like a homecoming.
Revolution, because we can. thats why.
